Gourds can come in so many shapes, colors, and sizes. The second graders examined an assortment of locally grown gourds. They each chose one to practice their writing skills, focusing on using adjectives in their writing to describe the gourd. Then they read what they had written to the rest of the class to see if they could guess which gourd their friend had written about from the description.

Jesus tells us "Whatever you did for the least of these you did for me." Students and staff at St. Mary School collected items and filled boxes to send to children around the world who have far less material goods than we do. Boxes included art supplies, books, toothbrushes, toothpaste, rosaries, toys, stuffed animals, school supplies, and more! Everyone in our school worked together to pack 100 boxes! To celebrate All Saints' Day, first graders dressed up as saints and shared information about their chosen saints during our all-school Mass. Second graders created saint shrines to display at church and to present to the residents of a nearby nursing home. Students in grades K-5 celebrated with an All Saints' Day party. They played games including Saint Walk, Saint Bingo, Pin the Halo on the Saint, and Canonize the Saint. |
