October is fire safety month. A group of firefighters visited our school and brought along the fire safety house. The students went inside to practice finding and correcting fire hazards, and to practice safely escaping from a house when the smoke alarm beeps. What a fun and memorable way to practice staying safe! Thank you, firefighters, for all you do!

After reading the book Flat Stanley by Jeff Brown, the second graders created their very own Flat Stanley characters. Each student wrote a letter explaining who Flat Stanley is. Because Stanley is flat, he is able to fit in an envelope and travel through the mail. Each student chose a special person to send Stanley to. Here are all of our Stanleys ready to set out on their adventures! We have received mail from two of our Flat Stanley's already! We received a postcard from Unity, Wisconsin, and a letter from Hudson, Wisconsin. We love hearing about all the places he has visited!
